It looks like Chinese handset maker Oppo is serious about Indian market. After launching one of its popular Android smartphones in India, the R1, the company now plans to release another mid-range device.
According to Gadgetstouse, Oppo Neo will soon be available for purchase in India, though an exact release date has yet to be confirmed. However, we do know the smartphone will be available for Rs 11,990 outright, which is about $190 or €140.
Still, we should wait and see whether Oppo confirms this price tag for the Neo, before making any comparisons with other devices available in India.
Those unfamiliar with Oppo’s Neo smartphone should know that there’s nothing impressive about it, except perhaps the fact that it comes with some sort of customized Android version.
Oppo Neo will ship with Color OS, which is based on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system. Aside from that, it’s also worth mentioning that the smartphone will offer dual SIM with dual standby support.
Hardware-wise, the Neo is even less impressive as the de vice is equipped with a 1.3GHz dual-core processor, probably provided by MediaTek.
In addition, the handset packs 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD memory card.
The Neo sports a large 4.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display, which, disappointingly, supports 480 x 800 pixels resolution. On the back, the smartphone features a 5-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus and video recording, while in the front there’s a secondary 2-megapixel camera for video calls.
Other highlights of the phone include HSPA+, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, GPS with A-GPS support, FM Radio, 3.5mm audio jack and 1900 mAh battery.
