Keyboard Layout Automatically Switched to US on Windows 8.1 Preview

Microsoft has started rolling out Windows 8.1 Preview updates on a regular basis, but it appears that some of them are making unexpected changes to a number of computers.

Several forum posts on Microsoft Answers reveal that keyboard layouts are automatically switched to US after applying some updates and as far as some users are concerned, there’s no way to undo this change.

“The problem is, as a German citizen I have a German Keyboard with a German Layout. Of course I tried this Alt-Shift and Windows-Space Combination, but it still has no effect,” one user explained.

The problem most likely concerns localized versions of Windows 8.1 Preview, so the com pany will probably fix the issues in the final version of the OS update scheduled to be released in August.

According to some reports, end-users are expected to get it at about the same time or soon after the operating system hits RTM.
