Over the weekend, after performing in Washington DC, singer Chris Brown let his temper get the best of him again and got into a fight with a man, punching him in the face so hard he broke his nose. He has just entered rehab for anger management.
Initially, Brown was arrested on felony assault charges but they were dropped to a misdemeanor after he was questioned by police. However, that doesn’t mean that he’s not likely to do jail time if the DA can prove in court that, by getting arrested, he violated his probation.
Clearly, this most recent arrest would violate that. Perhaps in a bid to show “good faith and contrition,” Brown has willingly admitted himself to a rehab center in Malibu for his anger issues, TMZ has learned.
He was driven there by his attorney Mark Geragos and was accompanied by his mother and current girlfriend Karrueche Tran.
“Brown flew to LA after getting released from the DC jail and met with LA County Probation D epartment officials today. We're told it's likely the Probation Department will determine that Brown violated his probation, and a judge could sentence him to as much as 4 years in prison,” the celebrity publication writes.
The rehab move could be, in this light, not necessarily an admission of a problem but rather a preemptive move to pacify the judge and let him off the hook once more.
After he beat up Rihanna (and even tried to push her out of the speeding car he was driving) in 2009, Chris has done countless interviews on the topic. He had anger management counseling and insisted that it had paid off, that he was now better in control of his emotions.
His bodyguard was also involved in the most recent incident. Early reports claimed that the victim and another man had tried to photobomb a photo Chris was taking with a female fan, but the star and his bodyguard told police that they had actually tried to get on his bus, even though they obviously had no business there.
