A new video from Soundworks Collection has been released, detailing how the sound in “Gravity,” Alfonso Cuaron’s most recent film, was created. Take 10 minutes out your busy life to watch it, especially if you’ve already seen the movie and are eager to learn more.
As you can see, director Alfonso Cuaron, who also wrote the script and handled most technical details on set, had a very precise idea of what he wanted his movie to sound like.
He had music written especially for a surround system, to go with the way character’s voices would pan out depending on their position. He also wanted the sound to be realistic and, at the same time, as confusing as the imagery.
As I noted in my review of “Gravity,” Cuaron had to w ait 4 whole years for new technology to be invented so that he could bring his idea to the big screen exactly in the way he had envisioned.
As such, it’s no wonder he was very particular about the sound as well.
“Gravity” stars Sandra Bullock and George Clooney, and is now running in theaters all over the world.
