In a surprising move Samsung announced the upcoming availability of the Galaxy Grand 2, the sequel to the affordable Galaxy Grand dual-SIM phone.
Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 is bigger and better than its predecessor judging by the phone's unveiled specs sheet. The smartphone sports a large 5.25 capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720 x 1280 pixels) resolution and pack a more powerful processor.
The South Korean company also confirmed the smarpthone offers users the option to further expand storage up to 64GB via microSD card.
On the back, the device features and 8-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video re cording, while in the front there's a secondary 1.9-megapixel camera for video calls.
Another selling point of the Galaxy Grand 2 is the fact that it offer dual-SIM support, along with a high-capacity 2,600 mAh Li-Ion battery which is rated for up to 10 hours of playback and 17 hours of calls.
Other highlights of the phone include: HSPA+ and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity, Wi-Fi, GPS with GLONASS, 3.5mm audio jack and FM Radio.
Software-wise, the Galaxy Grand 2 will arrive with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box, as well as Multi Window feature for multitasking.
It also packs lots of Samsung's apps and services, including: Story Album, S Translator, S Travel, Sound & Shot, Samsung Hub, Group Play and Samsung Link.
No word on when exactly it will go on sale and where it will be launched, but Samsung confirmed it will be available in White, and Black and Pink “in selective regions.” Stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
