Nintendo: Super Mario 3D World, Pikmin 3, Zelda Demos Critical for Wii U Success

The Wii U has been performing worse that Nintendo is expecting and it seems that the company is betting that new video game releases can transform the fortunes of the company as long as the public sees the unique experiences they can offer.

Reggie Fils-Aime, the president of the United States division of Nintendo, tells Kotaku that, “Pikmin 3, like Wonderful 101, like Zelda Wind Waker HD, with the off-TV play, experiences like Super Mario 3D World—that’s why it’s critical that we launch those, have consumers experience them in malls across the country, which we’ll be doing.”

Nintendo wants to sell 9 million Wii U units before the end of its current fiscal year in March 2014 but th e goal looks unreachable at the moment.

A 50 dollar or Euro price cut for the device will be introduced in the fall and sales are expected to increase just as Sony and Microsoft launch the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4.
