Battlefield 4's Suppression Mechanic Is Redesigned, Says DICE

Developer DICE says that the suppression mechanics that was much discussed by the fan base of Battlefield is back for the fourth installment in the series, with its core concepts redesigned based on feedback from the community.

Alan Kertz, the core gameplay designer, writes on the official blog that, "We’re increasing the suppression effect of Light Machine Guns, exclusive to the Support kit, while other weapons are less suppressive."

At the same time suppression is less effective at short ranges and gamers will be affected by a scope sway effect that will allow them most skilled of them to get hits even if they are under fire.

The idea is to make the Support class more attractive for players, who are now ab le to contribute suppression while their teammates surge forward and are protected somewhat from long range attacks.

Battlefield 4 will be out on the PS3, the PC and the Xbox 360 in late October in North America and early November in Europe.
