Canonical Announces 8 Mobile Operators Interested in Ubuntu Touch

Canonical has announced the formation of CAG or better yet, The Carrier Advisory Group, an initiative that shows for the first time who are the carriers interested in Ubuntu Touch.

According to the official Ubuntu website, which has been set up specifically for this occasion, The Ubuntu Carrier Advisory Group (CAG) lets mobile operators shape Ubuntu’s mobile strategy.

The members of this group will received advanced confidential briefings and will provide Canonical with the industry insight needed to ensure that Ubuntu meets their needs.

There are eight members in CAG, at least so far, which means that at least these carriers are interested in Canonical’s product: Deutsche Telekom, Everything Everywhere, Korea Telecom, LG UPlus, Portugal Telecom, SK Telecom, Telecom Italia, and a major undisclosed Spanish operator.

None of these companies have said that they will definitely support Ubuntu Touch, but it’s a good start for Canonical.
