Motorola Drops Moto X Outright Price to $400 (290), Permanently

US-based handset maker Motorola Mobility has just announced it has dropped the price of its flagship Android smartphone, the Moto X to only $400 (€290) off contract.

Previous to this discount, the Moto X was available for purchase for $500 (€365) outright. According to Motorola, the new discount for Moto X will be permanent and applies to all versions of the smartphone in the United States.

This means customers will be able to purchase the smartphone for the same price through any major US carrier that offers the Moto X.

“We've been hearing a lot recently from people who want a new premium smartphone at a reasonable price without having to wait for a contract upgrade. That came through especially loud and clear during our holiday flash sales.

So from today forward we're offering Moto X at an everyday starting price of just $399 on any major US carrier, without a contract. This includes customized devices,” said Rick Osterloh, Senior Vice President - Product Management, Motorola Mobility.
