US Cellular Quietly Releases The Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini: $50 On-Contract, $500 Unsubsidized

You've got no shortage of options for carriers if you want a Galaxy S4 Mini in the United States. Verizon and Sprint have already released the phone, and now prospective US Cellular customers are getting a crack at it. The carrier posted the phone to its online store today with neither pomp nor circumstance. You can pick it up for $49.99 on a two-year contract or a whopping $499.99 without.

That price is pretty much in line with what the other carriers are offering - for example, Verizon wants fifty bucks more up front, but $100 less off the full price. For that much dough you get a respectable midrange phone for those who don't like the super-sized handsets that are filling up the market. The qHD screen is 4.3 inches, giving the S4 Mini a relatively small size of 124.6x61.3x8.9mm. Inside you'll find a 1.7Ghz quad-core processor, a handy 1.5GB of RAM, an 8MP camera, and 16GB of storage plus an open MicroSD card slot. The removable battery is 1900mAh, which should give you a decent run-time, and the software is Android 4.2 plus TouchWiz.

The Galaxy S4 Mini holds up decently well compa red to the other phones in US Cellular lineup, fitting neatly in between the budget models and the flagships. That said, the carrier is currently offering the full-sized Galaxy S4 and the Moto X for free on contract, so there are better deals to be had if you don't mind a larger phone.
