EA Sports: PS3 and Xbox 360 Still a Focus for Future FIFA Titles

Video game developer EA Sports says that despite the launch of the Xbox One from Microsoft and the PlayStation 4 from Sony, it still has long-term plans to add new features to future FIFA game launches on current-generation home consoles.

Sebastian Enrique, a producer working at the company, tells MCV that, “It’s always a huge challenge making FIFA. We are not resting on our laurels. Just because next-gen is coming, it doesn’t mean current-gen is being left behind. We are doing everything to make the current generation of FIFA fantastic.”

He adds, “We have everything left to achieve. We are super ambitious. Usually when we build the game, and we decide what we are putting in it, there are three things we try to do – innovate, polish and listen to the community. There is still a lot of things we want to do.”

The developer says that despite the innovation introduced in each new version of FIFA, EA Sports knows the weak spots of the experience and always has long-term plans to bring the gamer closer to the real-world sport.

The versions of FIFA 14 that will be offered on the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 are u sing a new Ignite engine, which EA Sports says is too resource intensive to run on the PC.

It will allow gamers to play a deeper simulation that includes more information about the physics of both the players and the ball.

FIFA 14, in all its versions, introduces a new level of intelligence for teammates and makes sure that skilled players have a bigger impact on the match.

There are also improvements linked to the Ultimate Team mode.

The game is expected to launch on the PC and current-gen devices on September 24 in North America and three days later in Europe.
