Canon Patents IS Versions of 85mm f/1.8, 100mm f/2 and 135mm f/2.8 Lenses


Canon has recently announced that the company was ranked third among all companies in the U.S. and first among Japanese firms for the number of U.S. Patents awarded last year with a number of 3,825 patents.

According to the latest rumors, Canon is planning to expand its lens lineup by replacing its older lenses with image stabilized versions.

Japanese website Egami, has discovered a new patent filed by Canon that presents three new stabilized lenses including: 85mm f/1.8 IS, 100mm f/2 IS and 135mm f/2.8 IS. Recent rumors also point that Canon is working on a new 50mm f/1.8 IS USM lens that will come as a replacement for the old 50mm f/1.4 USM glass released 20 years ago.

Yesterday, new information emerged ab out the upcoming Canon EOS-A1 digital camera that appears to the company's new flagship DSLR featuring a 36.8MP image sensor, DIGIC 6 image processor, and Dual Pixel CMOS AF, all packed in a tough magnesium alloy body similar with the EOS-1D X.
